Ingo Kunzi (born 7 November 1966) is a German trance producer and ...
best known for his work under Ayla. The name was inspired by the name of a girl in the recording studio during his first recording. His track "Ayla", which is his best known work, was remixed by DJ Taucher, and was a hit in the clubs. The track peaked at #22 in the UK Singles Chart in September 1999.
Ingo Kunzi's first major release was "Te Quiro" in 1993, along with Alex Kilb under the group 'D-Sign'. Their single went into the Germany's dance single sales charts. In 1994, Kunzi worked alone on his debut single, "Acido EP" under Noom Records. The single went onto sell 10,000 records making it the label's best selling single.
In 1995, Kunzi created the project, Ayla, along with the single of the same name. "Ayla" went onto be remixed by DJ Taucher as the single's most known remix. It entered the UK Singles Chart at #22. After "Ayla's" success, Kunzi produced "Ayla II" in 1998, which entered the German sales chart top 40. In the same year, Kunzi remade Cosmic Baby's "Liebe" and entered at #1 in the German dance chart. Ayla's fifth single, "Angelfalls" was released in 1999, which went to the top 3 of the German dance chart. In late 1999, Ayla released his first album, Nirwana, which went gold in Norway and Singapore. Kunzi went on to produce two more Ayla tracks ("Singularity" / "Brainchild II, Sun Is Coming Out"), before taking a break on the project in 2003.
After putting his Ayla project on hiatus for many years, Kunzi released the digital single, "Ayla 2010", in 2010. On 23 February 2011, the second Ayla studio album, Unreleased Secrets, was released.
